Less than two weeks before
Bulgaria's early parliamentary elections on October 27, the
seventh in the last three years, polling agencies in the Balkan
country are reporting a 'déjà vu' in the 'ranking' of the
parties competing for the unicameral Parliament of 240 deputies.
The 51st national legislature will see 28 parties and coalitions
compete. The latest crisis in the Balkan country erupted in
early August, when the constitution's third and final attempt to
form a new government failed, following an early vote on June 9
and the European elections. According to recent polls, the new
election should not produce any significant surprises. According
to the Gallup International Balkan agency, seven political
formations will receive at least 4% of the votes, which is
required to enter parliament, essentially the same as in the
previous legislature. The GERB conservatives would maintain
first place with 25.7% of the vote. The PP liberals ('Continuing
the Change') would come in second with 16.6%. The nationalist
party 'Vazrazhdane' ('Rebirth') received 15.4% of the vote.
