The Palais des Nations in Geneva will host the national premiere in Switzerland on 17 January of the film directed by Alejandro Monteverde. "Cabrini", which recounts the life of Mother Francesca Cabrini, foundress of the religious congregation "Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus". The initiative is promoted by the Permanent Representation of Italy in Geneva, in collaboration with the Permanent Observer of the Holy See and the support of the United Nations Geneva Office and the High Commissioner for Refugees.
Mother Cabrini did her utmost to assist Italian migrants in the United States at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, being proclaimed, the first American figure, "Saint" by the Catholic Church in 1946 and "Patroness of Emigrants" in 1950, and representing an example of faith and modernity, still a source of inspiration in her commitment to the most vulnerable. The screening, open to the public, will be attended by the leading actress, Cristiana Dell'Anna, and, among others, Italy's permanent representative to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva, Ambassador Vincenzo Grassi. The event will also be preceded by a short debate on hot topics for Geneva's multilateralism, such as the role of women in the public sphere, assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population such as refugees, migrants and minors, health, education and decent work.
