"There is a great admiration for Italy in Ecuador for everything that is the Italian way of life, so there is a great demand in recent years thanks to the free trade treaty with the European Union, which has increased trade so much and Italy has become Ecuador's first trading partner among European countries. There is also a great demand for the Italian model of the fight against the mafia and transnational organised crime, a model that is based on respect for the rule of law and which in Italy we have shown can work'. This was underlined by the Ambassador of Italy to Ecuador, Giovanni Davoli, interviewed by ANSA on the sidelines of the second day of work of the States General of Diplomacy, the conference of ambassadors at the Farnesina.
"Bilateral relations are excellent at the moment: we had the visit of the Ecuadorian president this year, in May, to visit President Mattarella, and we had two visits to the undersecretaries of state during the year. There is a great demand for help from Ecuador at this very complicated time when the country is plagued by drug trafficking and transnational organised crime,' the ambassador stressed.
