"There are some Italian companies that have decentralised some production activities" in North Macedonia "and others we hope are getting interested and we hope they can come to the country. Minister Tajani when he came in September announced a business forum that we have started working on and we hope it will be organised early next year'. Italy's ambassador to North Macedonia, Andrea Silvestri, told ANSA on the sidelines of the States General of Diplomacy at the Farnesina.
"The year that has just passed was an election year, so a new government was installed, a new president of the Republic. It is very important to say that the new government has confirmed the goal of European integration, a strategic objective alongside participation in NATO. They have already started the accession negotiations, they have to do a constitutional reform, which is a complex exercise, on which they are trying to find a solution, and then they will have to do the other reforms as well. However, the objective is confirmed and so our hope is that as soon as possible they will go ahead with the other Western Balkan countries,' the ambassador explained, emphasising that the country also looks to Italy for cultural relations. "Italian culture is going strong, we recently celebrated 62 years of teaching Italian at the University of Skopje. There is a lot of interest in culture, we have recently held cinema evenings with films released this year with great success with the public, and great success will certainly also be enjoyed by the television series that we will soon be broadcasting,' he stressed.
