"The Canadian presidency of the G7 will certainly be in continuity with the Italian one. Canada shares with Italy the same values, foreign policy objectives, the defence of principles such as democracy and freedom, so we are certain that we will work very well with our Canadian friends,' Alessandro Cattaneo, Italy's ambassador to Canada, told ANSA on the sidelines of the ambassadors' conference at the Farnesina.
'Italy is viewed very positively in Canada,' he continued, 'the Italian community is very well integrated, it plays a positive role, Canadians look at us with feelings of friendship and sympathy. And then there are the economic relations, which are very advantageous for us, the interchange is growing, we have a trade surplus, and I believe it is worth investing in this fast-growing country, where our companies find fertile ground for investment and trade'.
