The Italian Embassy in Ottawa organised and hosted an event to celebrate the handover of the B7 Presidency from Confindustria to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC). In his opening speech, Ambassador Alessandro Cattaneo recalled the important achievements of the Italian B7 Presidency, including the considerable number of weighty recommendations submitted and accepted by the G7. The ambassador also mentioned the particularly positive moment in bilateral economic and trade relations. Selected guests attended the ceremony, including Canada's G7 Sous-Sherpa, Gallit Dobner, CCC President Candace Laing, ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions of the G7 countries in Canada, and representatives of the Italian system (Chambers of Commerce, ICE, Leonardo and Saipem). There was also a video message from Confindustria, recorded by President B7, Emma Marcegaglia. The event provided an opportunity to highlight the results of the Italian G7 Presidency, with a view to continuity with the future Canadian Presidency.
