Over the past two weeks, Ambassador Alfonso Di Riso paid the ritual farewell visits at the conclusion of his mission to Armenia. He met with: President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Minister for Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Paruyr Hovhannisyan.
During the talks, the regional geopolitical situation and the state of bilateral relations were discussed, with a focus on the various areas of mutual and fruitful cooperation. The Ambassador was also received by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. The various personalities expressed their profound recognition for the activities of the Italian Embassy and Ambassador Di Riso, expressing gratitude for his personal commitment to promoting and strengthening relations between the two countries, as also demonstrated by the reciprocal high-level visits that have taken place in recent years and the numerous joint projects launched.
Ambassador Di Riso, on his behalf, expressed heartfelt thanks for the fruitful cooperation and for the climate of mutual trust and esteem in which he was able to carry out his mandate. Giving voice to a thought also shared by Armenia's high-ranking political authorities, Ambassador Di Riso pointed out that Rome and Jerevan have a further considerable potential for cooperation and that it is in their common interest to put it to good use as much as possible.
