The school activity, which included various popular events, lectures and competitions in Georgian schools where Italian is taught, organised by the Italian Embassy in cooperation with the Minerva Education Cluster, reached its climax on 18 October, with the awarding of winners of various competitions dedicated to the main topic of #SLIM2024.
The Italian Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono visited the Tbilisi Classical High School, where the best drawings made by the winners of the competition "Tell the book with pictures", intended for the youngest participants of the school activity dedicated to the Week, were exhibited. The pupils, the main protagonists of the event, performed by singing the song 'Cantalibro' created especially for the event.
The Italian Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation Peter Hafner and Berika Shukakidze, Director of the National Centre for the Professional Development of Teachers, attended the event and awarded the winners with various prizes and nice gadgets as souvenirs of SLIM2024.
Ambassador D'Antuono emphasised the importance of the Italian Language Week, which is held annually under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, spoke of the considerable interest of Georgians in the Italian linguistic and cultural heritage, and congratulated them on the brilliant results of teaching our language in Georgia: "Thanks to the intense cooperation between Italian and Georgian institutions, the path for the inclusion of the Italian language in Georgian schools today sees the achievement of impressive numbers: there are more than 60 public and public schools in the country, involved in the teaching of Italian (one of the most studied languages in the world!) with more than 8000 students'.
