More than 400 aspiring students and parents took part in the Italian Day on Higher Education (IDOHE), the initiative through which Uni-Italia, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in India and the Institute of Culture promoted, for the first time in the capital, the university education opportunities offered in Italy.
Opened by Ambassador Antonio Bartoli, who welcomed the representatives of Indian universities and academic institutions, the event offered a showcase on scholarship opportunities, admissions, enrolment and visa procedures, and provided an overview of the study programmes offered by Italian universities. The ambassador emphasised the significant growth in the number of Indian students enrolled in Italian universities, which has risen in ten years from 250 to the current 12,000, with 2,500 new enrolments in the past academic year alone.
Professor Sergio Ledda, scientific attaché of the diplomatic mission, emphasised how student mobility constitutes an important exchange of knowledge and values and recalled how the growing number of Indians choosing a master's degree in Italy is a "further recognition of the international prestige of our academic institutions".
After the illustration of the Erasmus project and the presentation of the transfer services offered by the University Living agency, the day continued with short self-presentations by the academic institutions present (Università Bocconi, Accademia Italiana, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Domus Academy, Università IULM, Raffles Milano, Istituto Europeo di Design, Istituto Secoli, Polimi Graduate School of Management, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti and Istituto Marangoni), while the students interacted directly with the representatives of the various institutions.
