An exhibition on Jacopo Da Ponte, known as Jacopo da Bassano, one of the most important painters of the Italian Renaissance, known for his vivid and detailed depictions of rural life and his religious compositions, was opened at the Sinebrychoff Art Museum in Helsinki. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointing out that the 34 works in the exhibition will remain on display in the museum until 12 January 2025.
The exhibition, entitled 'Jacopo Bassano - Master of the Venetian Renaissance', was opened by Italian Ambassador Sergio Pagano and Museum Director Kirsi Eskelinen. The result of an extensive international collaboration and realised with the contribution of the Italian Cultural Institute of Helsinki, the exhibition traces approximately three decades of the painter's activity, through the different phases that characterised his work.
In addition to the speeches by Ambassador Pagano di Eskelinen, the inaugural event saw the participation of numerous members of the Finnish press and cultural and artistic world, a tangible testimony of the strong cultural ties between Italy and Finland.
