Great success last night in Skopje for the start of the Italian Language Week in the World.
The National Philharmonic, packed to capacity, was enveloped by the magic of the music of Giacomo Puccini, one of the greatest Italian composers and opera composers of all time. Protagonist of the stage was the great Macedonian tenor Blagoj Nacoski, accompanied by the talented pianist Elena Atanasovska and the best students of the masterclass that the artist organised at the Skopje Conservatory, who gave an unforgettable musical experience with their performance.
With Puccini arias - some from such celebrated operas as Butterfly, Tosca, Bohème and Turandot, and others never before performed in the country - the audience was taken on an exciting and enthralling musical journey. The evening event was further enriched by narrative interludes from the tenor who, alternating between Macedonian and Italian, retraced significant moments and curiosities from the great composer's life and career.
The event was a resounding success with the audience, with warm applause and ovations that confirmed the overwhelming impact of Puccini's timeless music and the extraordinary interpretations by the tenor and the young students of the Ukim Faculty of Music in Skopje.
Welcoming the event, which opened the Italian Language Week in North Macedonia in the best possible way, Ambassador Andrea Silvestri announced that the tribute to the great Italian composer will continue in November, with an entire month dedicated to Puccini organised by the National Opera and Ballet Theatre under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Skopje.
SLIM 2024 continues today with a seminar held by Deputy Head of Mission Mario de Rosa on 20th century poetry at the Goce Delcev University in Shtip.
