The ancient Italian art of bell-making
has made it onto UNESCO's list of humanity's intangible cultural
heritage.
Italy follows Spain, whose bell-makers were recognised two years
ago.
"We are very happy, we have been waiting for it
for over forty years", Gabriella Marinelli, one of the owners of
the Pontificia Fonderia at Agnone near Isernia in southern
Italy, told ANSA.
Her foundry has made papal bells for centuries and is now
completing great bells for next year's Roman Catholic Jubilee
Holy Year.
