Italian retail sales dropped by 0.8%
in volume terms and by 0.5% in value in October with respect to
September, Istat said on Friday.
The national statistics agency sale sales of foodstuffs dropped
by 0.7% in value and 1.4% in volume, while non-food sales were
down by 0.3% and -0.5% respectively.
It said retail sales were up by 2.6% in value terms and 1.5% in
volume compared to October 2023.
"In October 2024, large-scale distribution saw a year-on-year
growth of 3.2%, small-scale distribution increased by 1.9%, and
non-store retail sales declined by 0.4%," Istat said.
"Online sales saw a strong year-on-year growth, rising by 4.7%".
