Italian magistrates who waved copies
of the Italian Constitution in a protest against judicial reform
plans should instead study its text, Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani said amid fears of another
political-judicial clash after Premier Giorgia Meloni and other
officials were placed under investigation after the release and
return to Libya of wanted alleged war criminal General Osama
Almasri.
"I don't think it's right for some magistrates to start a clash
with political power, because this does damage to the
institutions," said Tajani, leader of the centre right post
Berlusconi Forza Italia (FI) party.
"In my opinion, what some magistrates did by brandishing the
Constitution did damage to the institution.
"Those who did it should perhaps study it a little better and
know it a little better since they then have to apply the laws".
