One in five skiing accidents in Italy
occurred between the Christmas and New Year's Eve festivities
and only 10% involved collisions between skiers while 33% were
accidental falls in 2024, the observatory of the Snowcare
insurance company reported on Thursday.
The study carried out by the observatory also reported a rise in
paid rescue interventions on the slopes, up 2% compared to 2023.
However, skiers appeared more cautious with an increase in the
sale of daily and seasonal third-party liability insurance
policies, said Snowcare.
The study found that most casualties tended to occur between 11
am and 1 pm and over 82% of accidents occurred on the slopes and
involved male skiers (51%).
