A 50-year-old train manager was
attacked by a young passenger on a regional train connecting
Porretta to Pianoro near Bologna, local newspaper Resto del
Carlino reported on Tuesday.
The young boy on Monday afternoon punched the railway worker and
knocked out two of his front teeth before fleeing, the report
said.
The Trenitalia-Tper train was cancelled along with the two
subsequent trains and the railway worker was taken to the local
Hospital of Porretta.
Carabinieri police probing the latest in a series of attacks on
railway workers are searching for the attacker, who is believed
to be a minor.
An national strike of railway workers was held across Italy
earlier this month after a ticket inspector working on a
regional train was stabbed near the Liguria station of Rivarolo.
The strike was organized to demand more security on the job
after "a long series of attacks" over the past few months
against railway personnel by labour unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl,
Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Fast Confsal and Orsa Trasporti.
