Italy booked their place in the
quarter-finals of the Nations League with a 1-0 win over Belgium
in Brussels on Thursday thanks to midfielder Sandro Tonali's
early goal from close range.
The Azzurri, who are seeking to bounce back from their poor
showing at Euro 2024, are top of Group A2 with 13 points from
fives games.
They have a three-point advantage over second-place France and
superior goal difference, which means they will still win the
group even if they lose to France in the final game at San Siro
on Sunday, as long as the margin of defeat is not too big.
