Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino
was among the stars named on Monday on the jury of the 77th
Cannes Film Festival, which takes place May 14-25.
The jury, chaired by Greta Gerwig, will also feature Turkish
screenwriter and photographer Ebru Ceylan, American actress Lily
Gladstone, French actress Eva Green, Lebanese director and
screenwriter Nadine Labaki, Spanish director and screenwriter
Juan Antonio Bayona, Japanese director Kore-eda Hirokazu and
French actor and producer Omar Sy.
Favino has gained recognition with Gabriele Muccino's debut hit
The Last Kiss (2001) and his award-winning performance in
Michele Placido's Romanzo Criminale (2005).
He also pursued a parallel Hollywood career, with roles in Ron
Howard's Angels and Demons and Rush, Spike Lee's Miracle at St.
Anna and Marc Foster's World War Z.
In 2018, he played Mafia boss Tommaso Buscetta in Marco
Bellocchio's The Traitor, which was presented in competition at
Cannes 2019, and he returned in 2022 with Mario Martone's
Nostalgia, which was also in competition.
