(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 18 - Italian State police said Wednesday
that they have arrested a 38-year-old Iranian man wanted in the
United States for allegedly providing materials to the IRCG -
the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
The US government considers the Revolutionary Guards to be a
terrorist organization.
The American authorities want the suspect extradited for
allegedly involvement in the supply of electronic components for
the construction of lethal weapons such as drones.
The suspect is allegedly linked to a drone attack by
Iranian-backed groups in Jordan in January which three US
soldiers were killed and dozens were injured.
He allegedly had a Swiss company that moved navigation systems
for drones and missiles.
The man was detained on Monday at Milan's Malpensa airport,
where he was in transit after landing on a flight from Istanbul.
The police searched the suspect and his luggage, seizing
electronic components compatible with the offences he is charged
of in the United States. (ANSA).
