(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 17 - Defending champions Inter Milan on
Monday night beat Lazio 6-0 in the Rome side's most significant
home defeat in Serie A.
Lazio started the match six points behind leaders Atalanta like
Inter, with Marco Baroni's team unbeaten in 12 home games.
The Rome side are also top of the Europa League ranking.
Hakan Calhanoglu first scored for Inter in the 41st minute,
followed by Federico Dimarco.
Nicolò Barella then netted the third goal six minutes into the
second half before Denzel Dumfries scored two minutes later and
Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram finished the work.
"I take responsibility for this defeat, the team lost from a
nervous standpoint, we lost distance but the team can't find
disunity when faced with the first difficulty", said Lazio coach
Marco Baroni.
"I wasn't good in managing the emotional part of a match against
an extremely strong team.
"You can lose, but you can't get out of the game", he said,
adding that "we have to be good and grow after this defeat".
