(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 11 - Italian pop's 'eternal golden boy'
Gianni Morandi turned 80 on Wednesday having just released his
latest album.
Morandi, the son of a cobbler from Emilia-Romagna, has taken
part in the San Remo Song Contest seven times, and won it in a
trio with Enrico Ruggeri and Umberto Tozzi in 1987 with Si Può
Dare Di Più.
Overall, he is estimated to have sold over 50 million records.
Morandi, who is still a mainstay of the Italian musicians'
soccer team, celebrated his birthday in Lisbon along with his
wife Anna Dan, for a Champions League match between his beloved
Bologna and Sporting Lisbon.
The album Attrazione (Attraction), written with his long-time
friend and collaborator Jovanotti, looks back at his 60-year
career.
"A life at 100 kph", said the evergreen crooner on his Facebook
page at the stroke of midnight in a post that drew a todal wave
