(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 10 - Transport Minister Matteo Salvini on
Tuesday signed an order cutting Friday's 24-hour public
transport strike to four hours but unions said they would not
respect the order.
The USB grass roots union has called the strike from nine pm
Thursday to nine pm Friday to protest the 2025 budget and demand
better pay and conditions.
Singing the order, Salvini said it was "unacceptable to stop the
country 10 days before Christmas".
He said unions were entitled to strike but they should not
unduly penalise workers, students, and other commuters.
The USB later reiterated it would ignore Salvini's order, saying
"we confirm the strike in its original form". (ANSA).
