(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 10 - The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in
New York and Cinecittà are paying homage to Marcello Mastroianni
on the centenary of his birth (1924-1996) with a retrospective
on the iconic film star which also sheds light on the successful
career of his daughter Chiara.
The event, hosted by the Museum of Modern Art from December 12
until January 5 2025 - Marcello and Chiara Mastroianni, A Family
Affair - will offer to the public a selection of 17 movies
starring Mastroianni, including new digital restorations
courtesy of Cinecitta, as well as six movies with Chiara
Mastroianni.
The actress will inaugurate the retrospective in the evening of
December 12, introducing the newly restored Le Notte bianche
(White Nights, 1957) directed by Luchino Visconti, together with
Cinecittà President Chiara Sbarigia.
Chiara Mastroianni will also present a few of her own films,
including the North American premiere of Christophe Honoré's
Marcello Mio (2024) on December 13.
A highlight of the main Cannes competition this year, Marcello
Mio is a loving dual portrait in which the actress interprets
several of her father's roles while also reflecting on her own
