(ANSA) - CALENZANO, DEC 9 - An explosion took place on Monday
at a refinery at Calenzano, in the province of Florence.
The blast created a big column of smoke that could be seen from
other towns in the area.
The sound of the explosion was heard in towns some distance away
too.
The Tuscany regional government said via social media that
firefighters, police and medical teams were at the scene.
Sources said the explosion took place at an area of an Eni plant
where tanker trucks fill up with fuel.
They said several vehicles seems to have been enveloped in
flames.
Other sources said Florence's Careggi has activated its plan for
a major wave of arrivals following the blast. (ANSA).
