(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 18 - Italy is joining the global alliance
against hunger and poverty with conviction, Premier Giorgia
Meloni told the G20 summit in Rio Monday.
Food security was one of the "priority challenges" for the
Italian presidency of the G7, which promoted the Puglia Food
Systems Initiative, "a concrete initiative available to the G20"
and which also intends to operate "in synergy" with the Global
Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, launched this morning by
President Lula and to which "Italy joins with conviction", said
Meloni during the first session of the G20 in the Brazilian
city.
The "cooperation between the G7 and G20", Meloni argued, can be
"decisive" in finding "concrete and effective solutions to the
complexity of the challenges of our time".
These are challenges, Meloni said, which are increasingly
"interconnected".
She said that "the problems of the South are also the problems
of the North of the world, and vice versa". For Meloni "the
interdependence of our destinies is a fact" and requires
"thinking outside the box" of the past. (ANSA).
