(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 12 - Catholic charity Caritas said in its
annual survey on poverty and social exclusion in Italy published
on Tuesday that nearly 5.7 million people live in absolute
poverty, or about one-tenth of the population.
"Absolute poverty in Italy affects almost 5.7 million people,
nearly a tenth of the population.
"The analysis of data has revealed that underpaid and
intermittent labour is widespread, with low salaries and
atypical contracts preventing a dignified life", the study said.
