(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 7 - The tightening of duties announced by
the new US president Donald Trump during his election campaign
risks costing Italy over 4 billion euros, according to a
simulation carried out by economic thinktank Prometeia that
imagines two scenarios of possible tariff increases.
The first scenario hypothesizes an increase of 10 points only on
products that are already subject to duties and estimates an
additional cost of over 4 billion.
The second scenario instead simulates a generalized tariff
increase of 10 points: the additional cost would exceed 7
billion.
In the first hypothesis, the fashion system would pay the
highest cost, in the second it would be the engineering sector.
